Halton Regional Police had a heavy presence around Ghent Avenue and George Street in Burlington Saturday afternoon after a man was reported barricaded inside a home and believed to be armed.
A Burlington-area breaking-news account on X reported at 4:04 p.m. that negotiations were underway and that Halton Police K9 and tactical officers were at the scene.
Photos posted to the BurlingtonON community on Reddit show a Halton Police cruiser blocking George Street, with an ambulance and several officers farther down the road. A separate Reddit post later shared video described as the end of the standoff. The video appears to show officers taking a man into custody.
People posting from the area said there were no injuries and no shots fired. Burlington News has not independently confirmed those details, and as of 7:22 p.m. Halton Regional Police had not posted a media release about the incident in its public newsroom.
Police have also not publicly confirmed whether a firearm was recovered, what prompted the response, or whether charges will be laid. This story will be updated when more verified information becomes available.
