Hamilton Police say officers seized five firearms after responding to reports of gunfire on Mud Street East.

Police said officers were called to an address on Mud Street East at approximately 6:36 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23. Several people were seen leaving the area on foot as officers arrived, and multiple people were arrested while police secured the scene.

Investigators later located five firearms at the property, including an SKS rifle and a shotgun. Police said the people taken into custody were later released pending further investigation.

Police said there is currently no information suggesting the gunfire was directed at a person or residence. The Shooting Response Team is continuing the investigation.
