Burlington currently has five red-light camera locations. Halton Region operates the cameras, and three of the five are on Guelph Line.

- Brant Street and North Service Road
- Guelph Line and Mountainside Drive/Davidson Court
- Guelph Line and South Service Road/QEW eastbound off-ramp
- Guelph Line and Upper Middle Road
Halton says the penalty for running a red light at a camera-controlled intersection is $325.
When does the camera take a photo?
The cameras operate all day. Halton says they only photograph vehicles that enter the intersection after the signal has turned red.
The sites are chosen where the region sees an opportunity to improve safety. The program is intended to reduce injury collisions and discourage drivers from entering intersections late.
Why are so many on Guelph Line?
Guelph Line carries three of Burlington's five cameras and also appears repeatedly in the city's collision data. Burlington News previously compared crash totals, red-light violations and engineering records in our analysis of Burlington's worst intersections.
That analysis found a useful distinction: the intersection with the most crashes is not necessarily the one with the most red-light violations. The cameras measure one specific behaviour, not every reason an intersection can be dangerous.
